The temperature during November - December is considered cool for this region, but it was still ranging between 31° - 26°C (88 - 78F) with humidity of about 85%. So when you are outside you are warm and sweaty almost all day. We wanted to cool down a bit so we visited two nearby beaches.
Alappuzha/Allepey beach is at a walkable distance from the town (about 2km) and it is a nice and clean beach. The water here was very warm but there are very few places to take cover from the sun. It is an open beach so you have to walk a bit away from the beach to find shade. So we just walked along the beach spend some time near it.
The other beach we visited and enjoyed a lot was
Marari Beach. It is about 20km from Alappuzha and you can get here by local bus from
Municipal Bus station for Rs.13 (€0,17) per person. It was a wonderful beach with the walk towards it surrounded by coconut trees and banana trees. The beach itself was a very clean beach with white sand and the coconut trees were just a few meters away from the water line. So it was very convenient to take a dip in the water and come under the trees to take shade. Nora also enjoyed the beach a lot as she crawled around and played with the sand. We visited the beach a few times and loved it every time we went there.
