Our first stop: Living in Prague for 40 days

It was a surreal feeling to say goodbye to Innsbruck and get on the train that morning with the feeling that we are not coming back to our home or live here anymore. And it was also our first long ride with Nora. We had to change a few trains and a few local transportations in Prague. All of it went very smooth and we finally arrived at our new home at the outskirts of Prague (40 minutes to the centre by public transportation) where we lived for the next 40 days.
It was an old house built in the 1930s, made of wood, and with about 500 sq. m. garden. The garden was covered with nice lawn, apple trees, various kind of bushes with berries, and many other plants. There was also a small area with a vegetable garden, where we also planted a few things while we were there. We spent a lot of time under the trees. We had our breakfast, lunch, and dinner most of the days under the trees and Nora loved being outdoors watching the branches and the leaves of the trees move. There was a fire pit where we made fire a few times during cold evenings.

Our time in Prague was very calm and peaceful. After going through a whirlwind of emotions and issues in Innsbruck, it was a safe place for us to recover from the emotional wounds we had gotten. Also, we had to get used to the fact that we no longer have a home or will for the foreseeable future. During our time here, we had our routine for work-out, we studied a lot, we read books, we cooked, and more importantly we both spent a lot of quality time with Nora seeing her grow and learn to interact with the world around her. We also spent some calm time planning for our future for the next few months. There was a forest starting just a few minutes away from our home. We went there a few times for some nice walks.

Before we came to Prague, we read on the news and had the impression in our head that when it comes to racism, it is not going to be much different than Innsbruck. To our surprise, we were again able to lift our head up and look into people's eyes and greet them as they passed by. We had our standards and expectations of how people react to us on streets to such a low level after Innsbruck that we were pleasantly surprised with people's responses on the streets. There were mostly friendly smiles, or curious looks and no longer people looking down on us. It was the beginning of our recovery process.

During our time here, we visited the city centre a few times and did a few touristy things. Ate palachinki and the local sweets which we enjoyed a lot. The place we stayed was owned by a guy named Jan. He and his girlfriend often visited the home to check on us and they spent a few weekends in the garden with their friends doing BBQs and swimming in the pool.

It was overall a wonderful time we had in Prague and we made nice memories from here and saw Nora grow, laugh, interact and travel with us. It was a wonderful experience.
