We were constantly looking for options to find ways to give back to the community and get closer to food source. In our conversations with a cousin of Kathi's, we heard about an opportunity in a nearby village called Absam where an organic farmer was looking for help. We called him and setup a day to go help him. It was about 12km bicycle ride each way to go there and come back. We helped the farmer and we really loved the way he was connecting with the food that he was growing. In exchange for our work, sometimes we got good looking vegetables, but most of the time we collected vegetables that the farmer was not able to sell but food that was still in edible condition. We were happy that we found this wonderful way of helping out and we started going there and volunteering at the farm whenever it was possible for us.
